ARi offers a variety of analytical services in those areas generally related to our technology development. These include:


  • Determination of common inorganic anions (sulfate, chloride, nitrate, etc.) by ion chromatography.
  • Determination of common organic acids (acetic, propionic, butyric, lactic, citric, etc.) by IC with either conductivity or ultraviolet absorbance detection.
  • analytical-servicesDetermine of individual free amino acids in sugar beet materials or biomass samples by HPLC after derivatization.
  • Particle size analysis by laser diffraction over the range of 1 to 1000 μm. Samples analyzed have included powdered carbon and other adsorbers, ion exchange resin, precipitated calcium carbonate, sugar fondant, and production sugar crystals. Measurements are made in liquid suspension.
  • Determination of common metal cations by atomic absorption (AA) spectrophotometry. Graphite furnace analysis for low levels of heavy metals is also available.
  • Identification of scale in process equipment, precipitates in process streams, and solid contaminants using Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FTIR) and chemical analysis.
  • Analytical method development for chemical components specified by the customer.
  • General microbiological lab analyses.
  • Determination of sucrose, fructose, glucose, raffinose, and other common saccharides by a variety of gas chromatographic (GC), high performance liquid chromatographic (HPLC), ion chromatographic (IC), and enzymatic methods. This also includes the determination of fructooligosaccharides and other less common saccharides, generally by the IC method.
  • General sugar industry analyses such as color, sucrose by polarimetry, refractometric dissolved solids, total nitrogen, and α-amino nitrogen compounds
